The One Where the Show Turned 25

Updated: Sep 28, 2019

Calling all FRIENDS fans!! In case you haven't noticed already, September 2019 marks 25 years since the beloved TV show first premiered. I still remember being in elementary school and having my parents tell me that the show was too mature for me. Crazy that since then I've probably seen each episode a few dozen times. Every time I rewatch one, I find myself noticing little details in the background (like Monica has the same pink KitchenAid mixer as me!), and find myself relating to the situations more (Rachel realizing all her friends are getting married or getting pregnant & she's just getting coffee).

Twenty-five years later and it's still relevant and relatable. This show is one of those rare ones that has the ability to make you laugh and cry at the same time. It's a show that I constantly quote with my friends, and if you don't understand the reference, you loose a little respect. I think it's safe to say I'm not the only one who feels this way because memorabilia, coffee mugs, T-shirts, cookies, cakes, and basically any merch you can think of has been popping up in mass quantities surrounding the anniversary.

Replicas of the iconic orange couch have been traveling the U.S. from New York to LA, to right here in Dallas. It's been at Klyde Warren park and Reunion Tower, but sadly, it's leaving us September 30th to continue its tour. Pop ups have also been spotted, from a coffee shop transformed into Central Perk in Beverly Hills, to an interactive (sold out) experience in New York City. The couch will also be found in several tourist hot-spots throughout Europe, and even in South America, Africa, & Dubai.

If you get a chance in the next few days, go see it for yourself and get some cute pics for the gram!
